Maintain a Consistent Golf Swing Speed
There is no need to try and create a golf swing speed for more distance, it can be generated naturally if you understand how and where to do it
Most golf shots are ruined because speed is generated too early in the down swing. This usually happens at the change of direction from the top of the down swing. A good mindset here is to understand that a swing motion is an unhurried motion. After all, you want to generate maximum club head speed at impact and not before impact like most golfers mistakenly believe and try to do. Here are a few areas you can look at to improve your golf swing speed and find your own ultimate swing speed. Good Balance Most golfers who swing too fast, lose there balance and seldom finish there swing on balance. The primary cause of this is pulling too hard from the top of the swing, overusing the shoulders and upper body in the back swing, causing an action of hitting at the ball instead of through it Not taking enough club for the distance you have is the cause of this. Forget the ego of hitting the ball far and focus on accuracy by taking enough club and swinging at 80 percent of what you can. You will have ample time to finish the swing on balance and obtain much more accuracy and distance. Balance is a big key to helping your golf swing speed be more consistent. There is an old saying that says “more haste less speed” that holds very true with everything we do especially in the golf swing. How many times are you in a hurry driving somewhere and all the traffic lights are on red! Did you really get to where you were going to faster? The Upper Body Keeping your grip pressures consistent will keep your arms more relaxed during the swinging motion and also keep your shoulders relaxed. The upper body will be allowed to move much more freely giving your hands more speed during the swing without trying to create speed.. This is critical for developing a consistent swing speed resulting in more accuracy and distance. Look at any PGA Tour player and you will see how they all have free flowing arm swings with no tension present in the upper body.Notice also that most of the club head speed they generate is at impact and beyond, not before. Summary Get relaxed in the upper body and finish your swing on balance every time and you will feel the difference in your club ball contact, accuracy and distance.
