Golf Swing Problems and How to fix Them
The most annoying thing about golf swing problems is not knowing how to correct them. Your best starting point is to check your pre-swing fundamentals of grip, stance, posture, balance and body alignment. Most in swing problems are rooted in your pre swing fundamentals. For example, a swing plane problem can be traced back to your posture at address. Posture is directly responsible for allowing the body to turn properly during the swing motion and swing the club on a good plane. This affects your distance and direction of the ball. A great way to check your pre-swing problems is to use a mirror. It gives you instant feedback and you can watch yourself while you adjust your body or swing accordingly. Once you are satisfied with your posture, stance and grip you can them practice taking swings using a mirror or if your have a sliding glass door, use your reflection from outside for instant visual feedback. It is a good idea to check your swing from two angles. A side view or face on view gives you feedback on how your body is turning and a down the line or target view will show you what your swing plane and posture look like and if you maintain your posture during the swing. I have used these simple ways to improve my own swing and students swings with much success. A mirror is really a great feedback aid to help you identify problems and work on solving them. Sadly, they are very under utilized. The high tech way to check swing problems is to video your swing either with your mobile phone camera or a digital camera. You may of course want to have it done professionally with a golf instructor, the choice is yours. My suggestion is to have your swing filmed when you are attempting changes and each time work with the changes.
