Train your Golf Swing Path to Perfection
Having a better understanding of the golf swing path can definitely help you swing much better. In definition, the swing path is the journey the club head takes from address, all the way round the body, and through to the finish of the swing. If you can visualize this path and specifically a correct path, you are halfway to helping yourself solve your own swing problems and understanding your swing plane. Questions you may have in your mind right now are, what creates a good swing path? How can I check mine? Firstly, understand the hands play a critical role in setting off the club head on a good swing path. If there is any manipulation or independent action of the hands in the early part of the swing (from the moment you take the club away) this will destroy the chance of swinging the club on a good swing path. Check to see that your hands are correctly placed on the club and towards the fingers of both hands. Palms facing each other and parallel to your intended target. Swing path is determined by your spine angle at address and this determines the angle you swing the club head around your body. As you can see there a few inter related parts of the golf fundamentals that influence one another. Should one be out of whack the others will suffer. The swing path is described as an elliptical shape you swing the club head on around your body. This is due to the weight shift and pivoting of the hips in the swing. A good way to visualize this path is to imagine an elliptical flat shape that stretches from the ball and up through the base of your neck and beyond. If you take a look at a player from a down the target line view it will look like a flat egg at approximately a 50 degree angle. The idea is to swing the arms and club parallel below this line. The best way to swing the club on a good golf swing path is to, like I have mentioned, not use the hands to steer the club but rather swing the club back in a one motion with the arms club and shoulders together. This is a good habit to develop and there are of course fantastic Swing Trainers to help you perfect a better golf swing path.
