Golf Driving Tips for Your Improvement
The golf driving tips I have mentioned here come from my teaching experiences over the years. The driver is the longest club in the bag and supposed to be the lightest. With the average length being 45 inches it is no wonder a lot of golfers get into trouble. The normal length was always 43 inches but since graphite shafts came onto the market the lengths have increased to 45 inches. This places a lot of golfers at a disadvantage, because the longer you make a club the more hand speed you need to generate club head speed and the less control you will have. You would be better off gripping your driver about an inch shorter. It will give you more control and consistency. Most golfers swing a driver far to quickly, destroying their rhythm and timing and any chance of a good shot. Your swing with the driver should feel slow. giving your body time to perform its natural turning motion and stay in balance. You should build a resistance to rushing, and rather focus on a swing speed being the same back and through the ball and finishing on balance every time. Amazingly, when you have good rhythm and timing you can hit as hard as you like. Golf Driving Tips- Ball Position Ball position is another area that needs clarification. Although the ball needs to be forward in the stance opposite the left heel for a driver do not make the mistake of changing the square position of the shoulders at address to accommodate this. I see this all the time with my students, they open up the shoulders too much, setting up for a outside to in swing path and that spells slice.(Arms and club swing too much left of your intended target.) Keep the shoulders square and facing the grass behind the ball while addressing the ball off the left heel. The head will be where it should be, behind the ball. This leads us to how high should you tee the ball. With the size of driver heads today you have to tee the ball up high. This encourages a sweep action and not a dig, essential for driving well. Golf Driving Tips -Improve your swing path To know if your swing path is correct on the down swing you should feel your arms, hands, and club swing to the right of your target past the impact area. You may think that the ball will go right but in actual fact that is the perfect swing path for a straight ball flight. It is easily achieved by a good shoulder turn and pivot of the hips in the back swing. This swinging outward to the right or hitting from the inside as it is the only way to deliver maximum power of the club head to the ball. Check your path by the feelings I have mentioned. Golf Swing Tips- Struggling with a Driver? Many golfers struggle with consistency and distance with the driver. Why not try using a 3 wood to tee off with. You would be much better off because the 3 wood is shorter in length and has more loft. This has often proved to be a better option than a driver for some golfers. Golf Driving Tips- a small adjustment for distance Try this small adjustment to get some extra club head speed without any more effort. With your left grip hold the club across the base of the fingers. Here you will feel that you are holding the club entirely in the fingers. This will give produce more hand speed through the ball and both hands will rotate much faster giving added club head speed.
