Golf after Surgery

I recently had a nasty rotator cuff surgery. I'm almost done with rehab, do you have any guidelines on how I could ease back into my golf game?

Louis answer:

I think the first thing you need to do is listen to what the doctor says on recovery time. Any injury/operation to the rotator cuff is going to take time to heal.

As far as golf is concerned you range of motion will be affected. Do the recommended exercises your doc or physio prescribes.

I would only begin to practice your full swing once you feel your range of motion is better or ready.

If you attempt to do any swings before the cuff is healed, your range of motion will not be maximized and you stand a good chance of getting into bad habits. This will only frustrate you in trying to swing.

Stretch as much as you are allowed till you feel no discomfort or pain. Then you should be ready to practice.

A good start would be your short game. This will not put much strain on your cuff and you wil sharpen your scoring ability.

Thank you for your contribution and good luck with your recovery.
