I hear about a forward press and I believe I know what it is but how much should you have when you putt?
How much should you have with your short irons or long irons? What about the driver?
I know the proper driver setup should not have a forward press but for some reason it has helped me have a flatter ball flight and less ballooning, so I keep using it for now.

A forward press is a great way to get your swing started and prevents the problem of freezing over the shot. It keeps tension out of body and encourages a free flowing motion.
You can use a forward press for every shot you play but there is a wrong and right way of doing it.
Be careful not to shut the club face to the left when doing it. This can cause the club face to be facing left at impact.
Rather feel the club head de-loft towards your target than close to the left of your target(in other words the hands should not rotate during this action).

Your detailed "back to the basics" training has enabled me to improve dramatically in the last week. Just goes to show you how important grip, posture, and stance really are! I encourage anyone and everyone to have a read! Thanks. -Todd
I've been spreading news of your website around to some good friends of mine who shoot in the 80s and they too have found it very helpful. Thanks again! Scott Steele, Kansas City, MO
Just wanted
you to know that I copied your grip and setup. Along with hinging the
wrists as you instruct, I am striking the ball so much better. Nice and
crisp coming off the club. Just wanted to thank you....big difference.

Great website! One of the best golf instruction sites ever, without a doubt. Thanks a lot. Bob Ashworth Indianapolis, Indiana USA.
I just wanted to thank you for all the generous information,
I learned from your site!! Warm Regards, Lee Collins, USA.
I have read many golf instruction books and golf is my first love. Your
info is THE BEST PRESENTATION that I have ever read. Your understanding
and ability to communicate the information is a gift. All the best, Dr Larry P. Boyle, Jr Texas, USA.
I will be spending more time here, but just on a quick read through I found it to be the clearest articulation of the different
elements of golf I've read. The site works well.I like the mix of writing / pictures / video.
Good stuff.. thanks.
Regards, Ross Patterson, Richmond, VA
